NATE KREMPEL

SENIOR FRONTEND ENGINEER + TECHNICAL LEAD

INTRO

The thinking behind the work.

A hands-on Senior Frontend Engineer or Tech Lead role centered on coding, user experience, and technical direction.

WHAT I OFFER

More than 15 years of frontend experience across visually ambitious marketing sites, analytics software, cross-platform applications, and native iOS products.

The strongest work happens where UX, visual detail, and technical complexity meet. That combination brings product thinking and frontend execution together while helping small teams plan clearly, make stronger decisions, and spend more time doing meaningful work.

FOCUS

WHERE I DO MY BEST WORK

WHAT I BRING

TECHNICAL CLARITY

I turn ambiguous requirements and complicated frontend problems into clear, actionable plans that teams can confidently build from.

By establishing shared goals, constraints, and expectations early, a team can reduce avoidable rework and create more room for engineers to focus on the decisions that matter.

TEAM LEVERAGE

I improve the systems around engineering work so teams can move with greater consistency and less friction.

That includes strengthening standards, workflows, tooling, and shared practices that make good decisions easier to repeat and create more time for meaningful product and engineering work.

APPROACH

GUIDE THE THINKING, NOT JUST THE ANSWER

I aim to leave teams with stronger judgment, not dependence on a single solution.

Rather than prescribing an answer, I use thoughtful questions to help engineers understand the problem, evaluate tradeoffs, and make sound decisions themselves.

CLARIFY BEFORE PRESCRIBING

I start with user needs, technical constraints, and unknowns before deciding how an implementation should work.

Each project requires a solution shaped by its particular context, so I focus on making that context clear before recommending a path forward.

PLAN BEFORE GENERATING

AI has become a standard and should be viewed as an accelerator rather than a substitute for clear thinking.

The better the specification, constraints, and plan, the more value a company can get from the speed of generated code.

EXPERIENCE

THE WORK BEHIND THE PERSPECTIVE

DESIGN COLLABORATION

A working knowledge of hierarchy, interaction, responsive behavior, and visual detail supports productive collaboration with UI/UX and product designers.

Engineering constraints can enter the conversation early, edge cases can be identified before implementation, and design intent has a better chance of reaching the finished product.

MARKETING SITE EXPERIENCES

Experience includes building extensive marketing site experiences that communicate product value through clear structure, responsive layouts, and polished interactions.

These sites require close attention to visual storytelling, content hierarchy, performance, and the details that help a brand feel consistent across every page and device.

CURRENT PRODUCT WORK

Current work centers on a native iOS consumer product after earlier cross-platform application development with React Native.

Experience across both approaches provides a practical understanding of the tradeoffs between shared code and platform-specific implementation.

DATA AND VISUAL SYSTEMS

Analytics work has involved turning dense information into useful visual patterns that help people recognize changes, relationships, and trends.

That work demands equal attention to data, interface hierarchy, and how people scan for meaning.

SMALL-TEAM SCOPE

Teams of one to four engineers have created opportunities to contribute across planning, implementation, technical guidance, standards, and review while remaining actively involved in the code.

STORIES

TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP IN PRACTICE

FROM CODEBASE DRIFT TO SHARED STANDARDS

An inconsistent codebase made new work harder to extend and review.

Working with leadership, shared engineering standards were established and reinforced through planning, pull requests, and code review. The team gained a clearer baseline for what maintainable work should look like.

MOVING AI QUALITY UPSTREAM

As AI took on more implementation work, reviewing code only after generation became a bottleneck.

More attention shifted toward defining intent, constraints, edge cases, and validation before code was produced. Better preparation made AI easier to direct and its output easier to evaluate.

KEEPING PRODUCT WORK MOVING WITHOUT DESIGN SUPPORT

When dedicated design support was unavailable, product requirements were translated into concrete interface options.

Leadership gained something tangible to evaluate, necessary decisions could be made, and development continued moving forward.
