When approached by an artist friend to build a portfolio site for her, I jumped at the opportunity to create something that represented her as a person and artist.
Collaboratively working on the look of the site we were able to use a wood background, which she uses quite often in her work. The choice of colors came at random as we tried to find a scheme that best represented how she wanted the site to feel overall.
With her artist statement going on the right and her work on the left, all we had to decide was how to showcase her work. We decided a stylized light-box feature when clicking on the thumbs would be perfect.
As for the functionality of the site, the thumbs are set up for her to place any amount she wants, and a scroll bar will automatically appear.
