This local artist was looking for his first online presence as an artist, but wanted his portfolio website to stand out among the rest. From looking at a variety of different websites he enjoyed, I came up with the idea of stationary gradient columns. By having the columns transparent, the original textures made by the artist, are able to be seen through the page, but do not distract the viewer from the work.
As content flows below the fold, it appears to be held in place by the beams of light created by the gradient columns.
Simple and large text also gives the site a very clean and structured feel, which gives a nice contrast to the messy textured backgrounds.
Currently I am putting the finishing touches onto the site, as well as setting up the simple cushy cms for the client to upload his own content.
